OPTIMISTIC OPINION: LEARNING ABOUT LIFE IN THIS LOCKDOWN

It is very devastating to witness the turmoil caused due to Coronavirus pandemic across the country and the world. Every time you wake up in the morning and read the news, something very grim is happening. It’s very disturbing to witness what is happening in this unprecedented pandemic. However, many people are experiencing the lockdown in a positive way, in an optimistic way. This lockdown has given us time, time to breathe in and take life in, time to restart. Many people are able to introspect and come up with more hope and resilience. This pandemic is making people realize the importance of little things in life.

Meditation plays a very important role in self-analysis, introspection and have better control over ourthoughts. Being confined to our home can be mentally challenging especially when a mind is filled with negative thoughts andan uncertain future can result in sleepless nights, which can make one quite fatigued. So, meditation helps to reduce tension which in turn helps to relax the mind and improve emotional health. On the other hand, yoga is helping many people to cope up with their physical problems. For professionals who are used to being busy in their work life, they are now undergoing a significant impact on their psyche. This pandemic provides them a great opportunity to focus on self- development. People are using this lockdown period to learn new skills; they are focusing on a variety of important soft skills and are applying them in real life.

There is an unprecedented amount of time to be alone with our thoughts and a time of profound realization about things we took for granted in the past. Being physically isolated from others during this lockdown has helped many people to shape themselves, to rediscover themselves, to know their strength and weakness. Spending time in isolation has made people open to the idea of being vulnerable and to make oneself mentally strong. Being alone with one’s thought has given individuals an oppurtunity to analyze themselves and to fix their priority in life. The lockdown has made one re-evaluate the role of family during tragedies. Now people will not take anything for granted valuing and appreciating the little things in life.

Can you teach anyone patience? Mother nature hit the reset button for all of us and whether we like it or not, we all learnt to be patient. People are waiting quietly at a distance in ATMs or at the vegetable market, instead of rushing to get to front of the line, one cannot believe that it took a pandemic to knock a civic sense into us. Being patient helped us to be more empathetic and understanding towards each other. We have acknowledged and appreciated those members of society about whom we took for granted like doctors, Nurses, Healthcare workers etc. Artists are sharing their talents and providing momentary distraction and comfort to the people. As with hope, optimism too is crucial to deal with challenges of life and to look at a difficult situation as an opportunity to evolve. On this note, let us take a moment to look onto ourselves and analyze, work on our weakness.
