Depression can make people feel lose hope and they are unable to find any alternate way other than ending their own life. Also there is treatment for those who suffered from depression.

It causes you to loose from the reality and start imagining things and you started believes the things that are not real.  Psychosis is a symptom not an illness. Psychotic disorders are severe mental disorders that cause abnormal thinking. There are two main symptoms of psychosis; these are delusions and hallucinations. Schizophrenia is one type of psychotic disorder. The worldwide incidence of Schizophrenia is one percent and often strikes.
  3. They are impulsive. An impulsive behavior is when you act quickly with no thought of the future consequences. There is nothing on your mind beyond that current moment. It is in fact the main cause is that instability with the feeling of emotions, behavior, relationships.
  4. These people start to show aggressive behavior. They are usually thinking about killing themselves but they don’t want to die. They started maintaining distance from family members, friends and society. They start talking, thinking and writing about death. They don’t usually like to talk with people. Sometimes they used to taking drug and alcohol in high quantity. They are crying out for help but they don’t know how to get it. They become hopeless and that leads the person to the extreme decision of taking their own life.

WHY ARE STUDENTS COMMITTING SUICIDE?

Many times we heard that student committed suicide and we assume due to their failure in exams; but according to National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) report nearly 10159 students in 2018 ended their lives owing to different reasons.

WHAT ARE THE OTHER CAUSES OF STUDENT SUICIDE?

  1. FORCED CAREER CHOICE- Generally many students fail to resist the huge amount of pressure imposed by family and teachers regarding career choice and studies. They are not allowed to choose their career and select a subject according to their interest. Parents across India are horrified about letting their children do anything less than engineering or other conventional courses. Awareness regarding new subjects may be there but acceptance is missing. We can’t stop children to select courses according to their interest. We need to allow our children to dream. And this is our fundamental right.

  • POOR EDUCATION SYSTEM- Students are in the pressure to secure seats in top institutions and if they are not secured the position they give up on life and attempt to commit suicide. There are so many students who are quite intelligent but could not secure position and have to struggle a lot because of category divide like reservations. General students, without any quote struggle a lot.

  1. NOT SPEAKING UP – Mostly students are not able to speak and in a major portion of student suicide cases the reason is unknown because they are not comfortable in expressing their concerns one last time. In many cases the students does not freely express how much they struggle with a load of pressure, even from their parents and thus they choose to end their own life.

SUICIDE PREVENTION

  • If a person says anything, then take it seriously and don’t judge them. If you or someone else is at an immediate risk of self-harm, suicide, or hurt anyone, stay with them whenever help arrives.
  • If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts; you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-8255 which provides service 24*7
  • Or call 911 or the local emergency number.
  • Help them to remove weapon and Harmful object which harm.

CONCLUSION

What are the approaches and measures which should be taken? As of now in the present situation, students and adult both are not able to speak freely and express their concerns; about how much they struggle with mental pressure. Never force students to select their career they will select it on their own. It is important that parents and teacher start making an effort to understand the student interest and not force them to do anything. To simply pressurize the student and blame for their poor academic performance will make them suffer silently and lead them to depression and then they might take a step to commit suicide; so we need to understand children according to their ability. In case an adult suffers we need to understand and listen carefully to their problem and not judge them for it. If you suspect someone might be depressed, don’t allow your tendency to deny the possibility of suicide ideation prevent you from asking about it. For students and adults, it is important to understand that suicide is not a solution. It damages not only their own but also their family’s lives too. There is also a lot of help available out there. There are counselor’s available, psychologists and even special friends who are more than willing to help them with cope up with the problem. So we need to fight not to try to attempt the suicide because suicide is not a solution to any kind of problem.
