मैथिलीशरण गुप्त (3 अगस्त सन् 1886- 12 दिसम्बर 1964) का जन्म चिरगाँव, झाँसी, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था। मैथिलीशरण गुप्त के पिता का नाम ‘सेठ रामचरण’ और माता का नाम ‘श्रीमती काशीबाई’ था। पिता रामचरण निष्ठावान राम भक्त थे। इनके पिता ‘कनकलता’ उप नाम से कविता किया करते थे ।
